Then all believers who are still alive will also rise up to where He is, in a wonderful reunion. Of all the visions described in the Bible, this one in the first chapter of Ezekiel seems to be one of the most intriguing and hard to imagine. While in Babylonian captivity Ezekiel receives this vision. He sees the presence of God, as molten metal or a flaming fire seated on a throne of sparkling blue sapphire, with a rainbow encircling Him in the clouds. The throne seems to be transported by four cherubim who have beside them four wheels that can go in any direction. What a sight it all must have been to behold! In the chapter’s concluding verses, Ezekiel records his reaction in verse 26: “This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. When I saw it, I fell face down, and I heard the voice of one speaking.”
